On the last day of the Year Rabbit (22 January 2012) my friends and I will do a HEA (leisure) walk in Lam Chuen, Tai Po area.   We have done a similar walk at the start of the Year Rabbit on 6 Feb 2011.

This will be a short one-boot walk that will end before 3:00pm, allowing ample time for us to do last minute shopping, house cleaning, or visit to Lunar New Year Flower fairs.

Those who are interested to join please assemble at 10:30am, Tai Po Market MTR Station (near the ticketing office), on 22 January 2012.  We will take taxi to the Wishing Tree to start our walk.  We will visit some flower plantations and old villages in the Tai Po area.

Depending on the weather and whimsy of fellow trampers, we will adjust our route as appropriate.   Nevertheless, the idea is HEA and to end the walk at a MTR station at around 3:00.

Please bring along the usual gear, sufficient water and food, rain / sun protection, rain jacket and wind breaker.   Proper hiking attire, good hiking shoes and gloves are recommended.  The weather forecast is not that gorgeous this Sunday, so please come prepared.

The usual Trampers' rules, rucksack, and disclaimer apply.

People join this walk at their own free will and should be responsible for their own safet, health and belongings.

Seven trampers attended the walk of 22 Jan abeit the less than optimistic weather forecast. As it turned out, the weather was fine & the mild mist has added a few notch of mysterous feel to the Tai To Yan ridge. The wishing trees (old & new) were still fresh & without much load yet. villagers were busy preparing their stalls, temper & trees for the roll out of the CNY. It was disappointed to see that many flower plantations were filled & turned into carparks...Our feng shui master bought a bundle of beautiful flowers & carried it along the Tai To Yan ridge that run from west to east across the northern New Territories. it is a ritual that will bring happiness & good health to trampers. To further enhance the magic power of the ritual, our master ruled that we should complete our walk as a circuit. so we descended early from the ridge & back to Lam Chuen & visited the wishing trees again. TAI TO YAN (big knife's blade) is a ridge that offers great view of the planes of Yuen Long, Kam Tin, Tai Po & Fanling, weather permitted. some parts of the ridge were very narrow and with sharp cliff edges. It is worth a visit in cooler monthes. Photos of the day will be uploaded on Jan 30 due to some technical problems.
