Itinerary

A 2-BOOT route is proposed for 30 July 2017 to trek on the Pink Coast around Tai O area in Lantau Island.

We will meet at 10:00 am at Tung Chung Station Concourse near exit B and walk along the coastal trail to Sham Wat Village at end of the Sham Wat Road  to the starting point of the hiking. From the coastal trail (which is relatively flat), you can have a good view of the Hong Kong Macau Zhuhai Bridge due to open to traffic in due course.

From Sham Wat Village, we will trek along the coast to look at the strange rock formation. Some of these are pink and so named as the Pink Sea Coast by hikers. Before we reach Tai O, we will pass the Lantau North Obelisk.

We will end the walk at Tai O and take bus or ferry back to Tung Chung.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk may still go ahead but we will hike on conventional hiking trails. Please look for announcement on this website or on Facebook the evening before. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, please call 8209-0517.

Please remember to bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water (at least two litres), thick gloves, good boots, wind break, sun block, a torch with new batteries and a hat. Also, please bring your lunch.
