This Sunday, February 12th 2017, the Trampers are going to visit the Rooster Hill (雞公山) in Sai Kung for a 2-boot lucky loop walk to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  The hike starts off a long ascent on stone steps to the peak of Rooster Hill, an excellent viewpoint of the Three Fathoms Cove, Ma On Shan, Sai Kung mountain ranges and islands on a clear day.  Following a series of descents and ascents on rocky trails, we will reach the "Thunder Strikes Rocky Hill"  (雷打石山) and Eye Brow Drawing Hill  (畫眉山).  Shortly after the third hill, we will enjoy a break at the Cheung Sheung Village.  A long descent by the Jacob's Ladder takes us to Yung Shu O Village and completes our lucky loop by a leisure level walk.  Avid hikers may take an optional 9km hike to the Hoi Ha Beach.

Group meets 10:30am at the Wu Kai Sha MTR Station Exit B.  Hikers who are familiar with the area, may meet us at the Shui Long Wo bus stop at 11:00am.  Bus #99, 99R, 299X and minibus 807B stop at the location.

This hike involves walking up and down, flights of rocky steps and uneven dirt trails.  Please join the event with considerations of your hiking experience, fitness level and HK climate.  Bring at least 2L of water and /or energy drinks, snacks and fruits.  Proper clothing for hiking and shoes with good tread/grip.  Gloves, hat, umbrella, hiking poles, flashlight, sunglasses, sunblock, Octopus card, just small amount of cash, dry clothing, towels, jacket, etc.

If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled.  If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
