Tai Po Market MTR Station (10am)  >  Wu Kau Tang  >  Fan Shui Au  >  Lai Chi Wo  >  So Lo Pun  >  Yung Shue Au  >  Kuk Po  >  Luk Leng

This Sunday, October 30, 2016, the trampers are going to have a three boots walk for an abandon village, So Lo Pun locating in the north eastern part of New Territories.  According to an urban legend, this village is haunted.  Hikers have also reported that compasses tend to stop working when they enter the village area, leading to the village being dubbed "SO LO PUN" which in Chinese literally means that "THE COMPASS IS LOCKED".

We will meet at 10:00am at the ticketing office outside the turnstile of Tai Po Market MTR Station.  We will try to take the mini bus no. 20C or share taxi directly to Wu Kau Tang to commence the walk.  Taking a country trail, we head up to Fan Shui Au and descend to Lai Chi Wo where is a "Hakka" village with cold drink supply.  After a short break over there, we will go further to So Lo Pun and check if all those haunted village houses have been torn down or not.  Keep moving, we will pass through Yung Shue Au, then to Kuk Po.  Following the concrete path along the sea-shore with a great view of Sha Tau Kok (Mainland), we will end the walk at Luk Keng.  Mini bus will be available for Fanling MTR Station.

Bushwhacking and good balancing skill will be required.  Please show up in full gears with 2 litres of water, lunch, snacks, rain wear, a torch, sun block, gloves and mos-spray(but no cigarette).  If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled.  If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
