Itinerary

This Sunday, September 25, 2016, the trampers are going to have a three boots walk, visiting the North Haven Gate at Lantau Peak (the second highest peak in Hong Kong with the height of 934 metres above sea level).

We will meet at 9:00am at exit B of Tung Chung MTR Station and will share bus to Ngong Ping where the Tian Tan Buddha (Big Buddha is the second largest bronze Buddha in the world) is located.  Over there, we will pass the Po Lin Monastary, the Wisdom Path and take a steep stair climb to the top of Lantau Peak.  All along the climb, it offers us soothing eyefuls of the South China Sea and also it becomes one of the best peaks to catch the sunrise in Hong Kong.  We will enjoy our lunch on top of Lantau peak with beautiful panoramic view around.  Keep moving to the North Phoenix Peak, we will descend to Lo Hon Tower (Buddha Tower) and start to enter a breathtaking passage to the North Haven Gate.  It is a very narrow rocky path along a vertical cliff (eventhough some ropes are available, better not to rely them all).  Finally, we will take the Lantau Trail (Stage 3) to Pak Kung Au to end the walk.  Buses are available for Tung Chung and Mui Wo.

Bushwhacking and good balancing skill will be required.  Please show up in full gears with2 litres of water, lunch, snacks, rain wear, a torch, sun block, gloves and mos-spray(but no cigarette).  If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled.  If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
