Itinerary

This Sunday, April 24, 2016, trampers will have another half boot walk on Hong Kong Island due to the unstable weather condition.  So, please make sure you will come with your rain gear or umbrella.  We will meet at 10:00am, Sai Wan Ho MTR Station (Island line) exit A, just outside the turnstile.  From the MTR station, we will take the bus no. 14 directly to Stanley Fort where we could commence our walk right away.  Just a few steps uphill, we will start descending on the opposite slope to catch the Rhino Rock within 15 minutes.  Over there, instead of a great view of Tai Tam Bay and a distance view of Dragon’s Back at Shek O, we could have a bird’s eye view of the famous Stanley Prison and it is the oldest institution still in service in Hong Kong.  After visiting Rhino Rock, we will retreat to the hill top and get down to the road by the hidden trail facing north.  Following the road in about 15 minutes, we will reach St. Stephen’s Beach and begin a short coastal walk until “Pak Kan Uk” where is close to Stanley Market.  After shopping or having beers along Stanley Main Street, we will head up to Chung Hom Kok Hill via Murray House.  Passing through the Devil Paw Stone and Snoopy Rock, we will end up again at the coast, the famous pirate, Cheung Po Tsai Sea cave.  Taking advantage of low water tide, anyone who wants to explore inside the sea cave for any treasury left behind, please bring your torch and metal detector.

Please show up in full gears with1.5 litres of water, lunch, snacks, rain wear, a torch, sun block, gloves and mos-spray(but no cigarette).  If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled.  If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
