Brief
Itinerary
This Sunday, 12 July 2015, we will visit, as an annual event each year, one of the GeoParks in HK, Tung Ping Chau for both hiking and swimming.
We will meet at 8:40am at Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier in order to catch the only ferry which will be departing sharply at 9:00am (return ferry will be at 5pm from the island). It will take about 1 hr 40 mins to Tung Ping Chau. With slight low water tide, we will spend about 2 hours walking along the coastal line and then swim at Tai Tong Wan on the island before leaving. Not only enjoying the amazing rock formation and the crystal clear water, but also the beautiful sunset on the ferry while heading back to Ma Lui Shui, University MTR Station.
For background information of Tung Ping Chau (the youngest sedimentary rock island in HK), please visit http://www.geopark.gov.hk/en_s4f6.htm
Not sure of the availability of ferry ticket yet. So if you are interested, please call the ferry operator 22722022 to enquire. To secure your seat, you need to pay the fare in advance. Otherwsie, if you just turn up on 12 July 2015 and there are lots of passengers, you may not be able to board the ferry.
Please show up with full gears, 2 litres water, lunch, snacks, sunblock, umbrella, towel and changing clothes but no cigarette. If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled. If in doubt, call the trampers hotline at 8209 0517 in the morning.
