Tiger Roar Rock River  虎吼石河

A hard 3 BOOT route is proposed for 29 March 2015 Sunday to visit the Rock River in Lantau Island.

This is an exploration hike as most (or all) of us have never been there. The rock river is not indicated in the country park map, so we are going to depend on information obtained from other hikers to aid our navigation.

This journey is absolutely NOT for beginners. The route will surely involve scrambling on steep slopes, dry streams and many loose rocks. Once we reach the rock river, we should spread out, climb at same pace and make sure nobody is far behind – to avoid getting hit by accidentally triggered falling rocks. After we complete the rock river, we will descend back to Shek Pik Reservoir through Middle Dog's Tooth ridge. Our expectation is having a small group of adventurous and experienced Trampers for this journey.

Due to the scouting nature of the hike, the meeting time will be set earlier at 9:15am (10 minute waiting rule applies) at Tung Chung MTR Station Concourse at Exit B.  We’ll take the bus to Shek Pik Reservoir to start our exploration.

Please be alerted that this is a strenuous hike and is not suitable for casual hiker.  Do come prepared and bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, snacks and lunch, a torch, gloves, a hat, umbrella/rain gear, good shoes, a map of the area, etc.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), we may change our route where appropriate.  If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517.
