Brief

We will meet at 10:00 a.m., Choi Hung MTR Station [彩虹站] (Exit B) at street level; ten minute waiting rule applies. We will warm up walking along Clear Water Bay Road [清水灣道] until reaching the foot of Kowloon Peak [or Fei Ngor Shan].

From that point we will make sure that we find the correct path since there are at least four paths leading to the summit, which range from banal to really treacherous. We will take a challenging one, and since we are hikers we will avoid at the same time the crazy tall vertical walls like the famous “Suicide Cliff” (dominion of rock climbers with full gear) and the easy well-marked trails (dominion of strollers).

After tackling bushes and rocks, at the top (altitude of about 580m) we will enjoy one of the best view point in Hong Kong (depending on weather and visibility).

After that, time to find our way down and it may not be easy task as well, and please remember that the hike is only for experienced hikers comfortable with scrambling/bushwhacking situations.

Reached Shatin Pass Road, there is the possibility of early exit walking towards Clearwater Bay Road and public transport. We will continue towards Shatin, passing Lion Rock and visit the top, then to Amah Rock until we reach Tai Wai MTR.

Please bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, good hiking boots, gloves, long trousers and a hat, torch/headlamp, as well as mosquito repellent.  Also, bring some lunch for along the way.

If it is raining or threatening to rain, the walk will still go ahead but we may change the route accordingly.  If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call the hot line  8209-0517  .
