IF THERE WERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IN THE MORNING OF 20 JULY 2014 WALK WILL CONTINUE BUT NO STREAM TREKKING, ALTERNATIVE ROUTE (3 BOOTS) WILL BE PLANNED

Disclaimer

People join this walk at their own risks. I shall not be held responsible in any way for any injury or death incurred or any loss or damage to personal property caused due to whatever causes including, but not limited to, negligence, neglect, errors of judgment and inadequate orientation skill on my part. The fact that you show up at the time and place on the day to join the walk is an implication that you have agreed to and accepted unconditionally this disclaimer.

Warning:  This stream trekking is really a 3 boot hike (maximum rating in Trampers), exclusively intended for seasoned hikers with good experience in rock climbing, hopping across large boulders, and bush whacking. They join the hike at their own risk and shall not be afraid of rock cliff climbing / height / bush whacking.  Pair of gloves and shoes/sandals with non-slip soles are required.

Having tackled already nice and demandlng intermediate level streams this summer, it is time now for Trampers to face the difficult ones and I propose for this Sunday one of them, Ping Nam Stream. Recent visit by other hikers can be seen in link below.

We will meet at 10:00 a.m., Fan Leng Railway Station near Exit C; ten minute waiting rule applies.  We will take maxi cab or share taxi  to Nam Chung (near Luk Keng) to reach the start of our stream trekking.

Ping Nam Stream includes a number of waterfalls and pot holes.  But to be rewarded with this nice side of nature we’ll have to face its hostile side, with tricky walls to climb, big rocks and walks at heights. We will trek it from sea level up the Pat Seng Leng to about 300m high through a steep climb. There will be two to three hours of hiking with spectacular views before we will return to Ma Mei Ha Village via Nam Chung Country Trail.

Please make sure you are physically and mentally prepared for a long stream hike of about three to four hours (only the stream).

So please come only if you are a fit and experienced stream trekker and bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, non-slip sole shoes, gloves and a hat, torch/headlamp, as well as mosquito repellent.  Also, bring some lunch for along the way.

If it is raining or threatening to rain, the walk will still go ahead but we will change the route accordingly.  If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call the hot line 8209-0517.
