University MTR Station (8:15am) > Ma Lui Shui Ferry Pier > Tung Ping Chau

Itinerary

This Sunday, July 13, 2014, we will visit one of the GeoParks in HK, Tung Ping Chau for both hiking and swimming.

We will meet at 8:15am outside the turnstiles of University MTR Station and will take a short walk to Ma Liu Shui Ferry Pier in order to catch the only ferry which will be departed sharply at 9:00am (return ferry will be at 5pm from the island).  It will take about 1 hr 40 mins to Tung Ping Chau.  Taking advantage of low water tide, we will spend about 2 hours walking along the coastal line and then swim at Tai Tong Wan on the island before leaving.  Not only enjoying the amazing rock formation and the crystal clear water, but also the beautiful sunset on the ferry while heading back to Ma Lui Shui, University MTR Station.

For background information of Tung Ping Chau (the youngest sedimentary rock island in HK), please visit http://www.geopark.gov.hk/en_s4f6.htm

Please show up with full gears, 2 litres water, lunch, snacks, sunblock, umbrella, towel and changing clothes but no cigarette. If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk may be cancelled. If in doubt, call the trampers hotline at 8209 0517 in the morning.
