All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Distance Duration* Elevation Level of Difficulty
8 km 2 hours 5 - 200 metres

This is a closed event for the BBQ  but everyone is free to join the hike. The BBQ booking is closed Wednesday as we have to book and pay earlier. The hike is a short one boot hike in Sai Kung.

We will meet outside the taxi stand in Sai Kung at 10.30 AM. To reach Sai Kung from Choi Hung MTR you can take the minibus. The minibus drops you very close to the taxi stand and we will take a minibus to Hoi Ha starting point of the hike. We plan to do a short hike couple of hours from Hoi Ha To Tai Tan.  It's a coastal walk with very nice views and not much sweat!!

After the hike we take a short taxi ride to the BBQ site. There are washrooms there for a quick change. Pl note an extra warm layer will help as the BBQ site is right next to the sea and tends to get chilly

For BBQ please call the hotline and I shall pass my bank details for the transfer. The cost expected is Hkd 125 excluding drinks. Please note less or more we shall settle at the BBQ. The deadline for booking/bank transfer is Wednesdy 5 pm.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will not be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late!

Bring all the usual gear, in particular two litres water, good shoes, a light snack and a hat.

The Trampers' NEP Check

But wait. This does not mean that anyone can join us. You are eligible only if you pass the NEP check:

  • Support our “NO trace behind (except footprints)” policy. You are expected to carry all of your rubbish away, and you are not meant to pick flowers or bring any species away from the walk.
  • Check the boot rating of the walk, estimate your capability realistically, and ENSURE that you can finish the walk at a crisp pace.
  • Show up PUNCTUALLY (no later than 10 minutes after the meeting time) at the meeting point of the walk.

A recap of our boot system
Wonder what a boot is? See explanation of our boot system. Easy relaxed walking, usually along the flat or with a few low hills involved. Suitable for inexperienced hikers.
Wonder what a boot is? See explanation of our boot system.Wonder what a boot is? See explanation of our boot system. More challenging walk, and usually longer (4-5 hours) but still within the endurance and capability of most walkers. Would not involve hills as high as 500 metres.

Requires endurance and not suitable for walkers who have difficulties in high places. 3 boots maybe allocated to a walk because of its length and/or because it involves elevations over 500 metres and/or tough walking. Not recommended for novice hikers.
