All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Description:
The coming Sunday, 28 June 09, we will hike in the Sai Kung District.  The first part of the trek requires a few ups and downs that cover the Kai Kung Shan, Wat Mei Shan and Shek Uk Shan.  We may take a well-earned break at Cheung Sheung to sample the famous soya milk and soya beam desert.  We will then start our stream trek down to Hou Tong Kai Stream for a quick swim.  The Hou Tong Kai Stream may not be as spectacular and challenging as the Wong Lung Hang that we visited last Sunday.  However, there are many sizable natural swimming pools and will be a good respite after a hot summer hike.  For further info about Hou Tong Kai Stream, please visit this link:http://www/twghwflc.edu.hk/~lwk/cphoto/htk/

The trek will end at Tai Tan inside the Sai Kung East Country Park.  Those who do not want to do any stream trek can follow the Cheung Sheung Country Trail down to Hoi Ha Road and take a mini bus back to Sai Kung.

Trampers who are interested in the trek please assemble at 10:30 am at the Ticket Office / Customer Services Centre
just outside the turnstiles of Shatin KCR (East Rail) Station.  We will take bus No. 299 from Shatin Station to Shui Long Wo.
Trampers may, alternatively, wait outside the public toilet at Shui Long Wo at 11:15am.

Please note that the weather forecast that the coming Sunday will be cloudy with scattered showers and the temperature
may be as high as 31 degree C.  You are strongly advised to prepare for the hot, humid and wet weather.

Please remember to bring all the usual gear - lunch, sufficient water/drinks (at least 2 litres), snacks, a sun hat, sun block,
a torch, mosquito spray, gloves, rain gear, and swim wear if needed.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will still go on but we will hike on another part of Sai Kung.  If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517.
Remember don't be late!  The 10 minutes rule is in force.

Despite the difficult weather, ten trampers tangoed with the weather on last Sunday.
It rained, it shined and it roared. the only consoled to our battered and thoroughly
wet body were the kindness offered by the owner of the store at Cheung Sheung
(where she took the trouble to unlock the store and entertained our purchase), the
occasional peels of the beautiful view of the Sai Kung coast line, and the encouragement
sung by the running streams. Nevertheless, it was a very refreshing experience and we
were contented after completing our hike in Tai Tan.
The ten fellow trampers might have different reflection/comment on this hike.
However, the leader enjoyed it thoroughly because one of his plots came true…
The group had had a long wait, during the hike, for Francis who has taken the
trouble to get into and out of his new fashionable “rain-proof” outfit along the
battered trek. The leader thus volunteered to shepherd this wayward goat and
urged him forward by means of a lecture on the DOs and DON’ts of finding
his FAIR LADY. Francis swiftly put into practice the recently learnt lesson and
approached a female hiker (during the bus ride back to Sai Kung) in a doggy manner…
offered a tailored hike itinerary to suit her likes and dislikes if she agreed to accompany
him on the next Sunday hike…and blah blah blah…
Stay tuned for the outcome of this plot…
