All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

 夢斷南樓,魂凝北嶺;

    士心未寒,金秀再認。」

1.          These poetic verses of mine reflect my sentiments ever since the Trampers hiking trip to Jinxiu (金秀) in Guangxi Province, China over Christmas 2006, and so I am planning to go back this Easter to hike in the area again.  Anybody who wants to join me can email me at   This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

2.          My plan is to leave Hong Kong after work in the evening of Thursday, 9th April 2009 (exit at Lo Wu Border Control Point at about 7.15 p.m.  (Lo Wu is the last KCR train station on the Hong Kong side of the border), take a deluxe sleepers' bus from Shenzhen to Liuzhou.  We'll arrive at Liuzhou in the early morning on the next day.  From Liuzhou, we'll take transport (about 2 hours) to the little, quaint township of Jinxiu and we'll use it as a base to explore the Tai Yiu Mountain Range nearby.  The Tai Yiu area is inhabited by the Yao minority people.

3.          We'll stay either in a guesthouse or in a village house in Jinxiu.  The purpose of visiting the area is hiking.  We'll do hiking on two days.  The walks are either two or three booters.  In Jinxiu we'll try and find a villager to be our guide who will take us into the mountains.

4.          The plan is that the main group will leave Jinxiu in the early morning of 13th April and take a deluxe day bus back to Shenzhen, and then cross the border back to Hong Kong.  It is expected that the group will arrive at Hong Kong in the late evening on the same day (13th April).

5.          Those who want to return to Hong Kong early may do so.  It is the same deluxe day bus which runs every day, or you can take the sleepers' bus or sleepers' train from Liuzhou if you want to save time.

6.          I'll most probably stay behind in Guangxi Province for a few more days after the main group has left, to explore the other rural areas in the province.  Anybody who wants to stay behind in Guangxi to make some more exploratory trips with me is welcome.

7.          Note that this is sort of a backpacking trip.  Accommodation can be quite basic, and you should not expect any western comforts, though I am quite sure that hot ‘shower' is possible.

8.          I do not know how much this trip would cost, although I am quite sure that it should be less than $1,000HK.  This will include everything but not the Chinese visa, if you need one to visit China.  You have to arrange the Chinese visa yourself.

9.          Do not make any arrangement for the Chinese visa until I confirm with you in early April that we'll definitely go ahead with this trip.

10.      If you have any questions about this trip, do not hesitate to email or call me.
