| Stroll on Dec 7: Shek Pik to Tai O |
The doctor has given me strict instructions not to hike. I assured him that will follow his instruction to the letter and definitely not hike. I opened the Tramper dictionary and looked up the word "hike"
So this weekend we have to ensure none of the above criteria are met. Therefore this coming Sunday, we will go for a "18 km stroll" No really it's a just a short and gentle stroll. In my opinion, its probably the most beautiful part of Lantau and be rest assured this part of Lantau has absolutely nothing to do with hiking. Look at it this way, 18 km is not a great distance, there are no rural areas in Hong Kong, we don't get any pleasure whatsoever we do this for pain and beer, we are not connected with the PLA or the like We will meet outside the turnstiles at Tung Chung Mtr at 11.00 AM and then take the bus to the starting point. The first part we just have to shut our eyes and walk for one hour on concrete which is unfortunately unavoidable. After that the trail is gorgeous right up to Tai O. Stoep, Stoep, Stoep, Stoep, Stoep, Stoep, Stoep(Blame it on the doctor's pills) If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the stroll will not be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the stroll, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late! Bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, good shoes, a torch and a hat. Also, bring some lunch for along the way. Disclaimer:- People join this walk at their own risks. I shall not be held responsible in any way for any injury or death incurred or any loss or damage to personal property caused due to whatever causes including, but not limited to, negligence, neglect, errors of judgment and inadequate orientation skills on my part. The fact that you show up at the time and place on the day to join the walk is an implication that you have agreed to and accepted unconditionally this disclaimer. Last update: 08-12-2008 16:36
