All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

1.         Last year (9th September 2007--click Past Walks button) we did a four boot hike from Nam Chung up Wong Leng, in a direction from north to south.  This Sunday we'll conquer Wong Leng again, but in a different direction.

2.         We'll meet at the Customer Services Centre/Ticket office inside the Tai Po Market Train Station (East Rail) at 10.45 am.  From the train station we'll take transport to Ting Kok to start our hike up Wong Leng.

3.         Like last year's hike, we'll conquer Wong Leng by sourcing a stream.  Unlike last year's hike, this time we'll conquer it in an opposite direction, from south to north, by walking up along a different stream.

4.         After we have conquered Wong Leng (639m), we'll descend to Wang Shan Keuk, an abandoned village at the waist of Pat Sin Leng.  From the Keuk we'll walk to Tai Mei Tuk to sample our beer and lick our wounds (beer and blood are good mix).

5.         This walk should not be as difficult as last year's, but still you should come prepared for the worst.  The water level in the stream which we'll be sourcing this Sunday should be very low, and so the walk along it should not be slippery in the prevailing dry weather conditions.  Also the cool weather has settled.  All these should make this Sunday's walk very enjoyable and manageable by an average hiker, thus my three boot rating for it.  The view of the Tolo Harbour and the neighbouring areas is spectacular from top of Wong Leng; so bring your camera.

6.         Bring all the usual things, a lunch, enough water, a torch, sun block, mos spray and if weather looks dodgy, rain gear.

7.        If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk might be cancelled. If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.

Note:- Please note that this walk and any other walks organised by me may finish late due to a host of different reasons.  The duration given on top of this walk proposal is only a rough estimate.  We may have to walk longer than the estimated time and so there is a possibility that we'll walk in the dark (i.e. after sunset).  It is prudent that you bring a small torch with you to this walk.

Disclaimer:- People join this walk and any other walks organised by me at their own risks.  I shall not be held responsible in any way for any injury or death incurred or any loss or damage to personal property caused due to whatever causes including, but not limited to, negligence, neglect, errors of judgement and inadequate orientation skills on my part.  The fact that you show up at the time and place on the day to join the walk is an implication that you have agreed to and accepted unconditionally this disclaimer.

Francis.
