All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

We will meet early this Sunday at 10:30 am at Tung Chung MTR near the fountain.  Yes, early coz the sun sets early in autumn and that the walk will be strenuous and long.  It will take us around an hour to walk to the base of the Kau Nga Leng (West) ridge after departing from the bus (somewhere near Shek Pik Reservior) and another hour or so to complete the upward climb along the ridge.  It will not be an easy walk due to the uneven and sometime hair-thin terrain as well as the altitude.  Shortly before the summit  of the Lantau Peak, we will explore a trek that leads to the Southern Heaven Gate through a life-threatening Satan Cliff.  This is a legendary path that lays next to the Kau Nga Leng and there is rumor that treasures buried there and are waiting to be discovered and treasured.  We will end the walk at Pak Kung Au.  This is a 3.5 boots walk and expected to take at least 6 hours to finish.  Early exit is possible.

1. Walk Report - 25 October 2009
Dog's Teeth Ridge

Eight Trampers was up to take on the challenge of conquering the Dog's Teeth Ridge one more time this year! It was forcasted to be a clear and sunny day,but by the time we got off the bus at Shek Pik, rain clouds ominously hovering above Lantau Peak. This didn't deter the Trampers to keep going 900m up hill, and the clouds were actually a blessing in disguise, shading us from the harsh blazing sun and it made the trek more enjoyable and the beautiful scenery of South Lantau with its lush green valley, in contrast with the awesome Dog's Teeth Ridge was rewarding...even the hard- to- please Andy had to gave me a two thumbs up for leading this hike!

Before we reached Lantau Peak,we did stop to have a group photo at '' Little Bird Rock''. We then head down to more treacherous trail that leads to the South Heaven Gate and Satan's Cliff. At that time the fog was so thick that the visibilty was low,it made the hike leader disorientated for a while as the trees and scrubs were too thick and the orange color ribbons were gone, .thanks to her good memory and sense of direction, finally found some distinctive landmarks and everyone was relieved to be back into the right trail. For sometime the thick fog stayed with us and once in a while it lifted up,we stopped to admire this part of Lantau and to fill our lungs with fresh air before making our way up and finally reached Lantau Trail by 4pm. We then headed down to the saddle and finished the hike at 5pm.

Thank you everyone for your good attitude, good sense of humor and for your cooperation to make this an enjoyable hiking experience with the HK Trampers.
