All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Trampers often complain about the sun. But after 3 weeks of rain I think we could just tolerate it for a day and make the best of it. With some regulars committed to another hike, we may have a small group. The plan is to combine a scenic shortish walk in a rarely-visited area with a swim, including:

  • Brief breaks from time to time.
  • Three to four breaks of at least 10 minutes each.
  • A lunch break of at least 30 minutes on Tai Yue Ngam Teng.
  • Squatting on the Long Ke beach (and swim) for at least 45 minutes.

We meet at 11 a.m. inside the Diamond Hill MTR station next to the QQ rice ball shop (which exits to the bus interchange). Then we bus to Pak Tam Chung, and taxi to Sai Wan Pavillion.

From there we walk via Chui Tung Au to Sai Wan Shan (314m) and then Tai Yue Ngam Teng. After lunch we'd explore the multiple trails around there and on Tsang Pang Kok Teng before we walk to Long Ke. After the swim we'd walk to the end of the East dam of High Island Reservoir to taxi back Sai Kung, expectedly aroung 6 p.m. (If you have planned to be back earlier, you could spin off before that).

This is an easy two-boot walk. But if you do not hike regularly this could be a difficult one.

Warning: Bring a sun hat. Those who turn up without sun hats are not welcome. And loads of water. There is no water or supplies on the way. Nor is there changing room or fresh water shower on Long Ke.

There is hardly any chance of getting lost. But as usual, you are solely responsible for your personal safety.

If in doubt of cancellation due to rain, phone 82090517 on Sunday morning.

Joyce
