All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Walk April 6 Sai Kung W Country Park

Written by Joyce Nip,

We shall meet at 11.00 a.m. in Diamond Hill MTR inside the station at the exit to the bus interchange. From there we take a bus to Sai Kung, and then another bus no. 99 to Shui Long Wo. Alternatively people could take bus no. 299 from Sha Tin to Shui Long Wo.

From there we basically follow the west and then north coast of the Sai Kung W Country Park, except after passing Sham Chung we go up Kai Ma Tung (207m) via She Shek Au, before hitting the coast again, visiting the Dragon Boat rock and the Caritas Siu Tong camp on the way. Then we go inland again up Mount Hallowes (372m), through Ngau Kwo Lo to Hoi Ha.

Depending on the time, we may call it a day, or continue on to the Tai Tan country trail, ending on Hoi Ha Road.

This is a 2-boot walk, expected to take 6 hours. You'd find it too tough if you do not exercise regularly.

Bring a lunch, plenty of water, a sun hat and a map (if you have one).

Those who intend to join at Shui Long Wo should be there by 12 p.m.

If it threatens to rain Sunday morning, ring the hotline 82090517 to check if the walk is cancelled.

By joining the hike, you yourself undertake to take full responsibility of all possible risks arising from the hike.

1. walk report of 6.4.08 to Hoi Ha
There were 16 trampers taken a bus from Diamond Hill to Sai Kung under the lead of Joyce. Then they took into 4 taxis to go to original starting point, Shui Long Wo. On the other hand, Roz and Rebecca waited for the group at the bus stop of Shui Long Wo at 11:45a.m. After half hour, two of them were picking up by Joyce and arrived by taxi to the new starting point of Yung Shue O where was suggested by Andy to avoid long walk on concrete. Unfortunately, we still missed one late tramper, Francis who was on the way to original starting point. Then Joyce and Tim left behind to wait for Francis, and other trampers were led by Andy to Sham Chung.

After 45 minutes walk, we arrived to a store at Sham Chung and waited for other 3 trampers. 10 minutes later, Joyce and Tim arrived. And Francis was the last one to arrive as usual. It's really a nice walk to start on that Sunny day. We had a long rest at Sham Chung store with the amusement of dogs which are belonged to a big group of fans who raise the same type of dogs. Then we headed to She Shek Au, Lai Chi Wo and Pak She O. That day was wet and the temperature was high up to 28C. It's tough for some of us to go ups and downs. Finally, we ended up to Hoi Ha at 5:45p.m. As it was too late to go for a swim, therefore, 16 of us took taxi back to Sai Kung. Thanks for Vivian to call us the taxi where has poor reception of mobile. And there were 3 persons, Joyce, Francis and Catherine left behind at Hoi Ha to enjoy the good scenery and sunset. Finally they met up with Rebecca for nice Thai food and beer. Thanks Joyce bringing us a great day.
