All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Walk on March 30: Mangled Mangals

Written by Caroline,

Distance Duration* Elevation Difficulty
13 KM 5 hours 416 metres

Having recently acquired a compass and nearly recovered from a hamstring injury, I am proposing a walk to celebrate. In the event that it doesn't rain this Sunday, how about a gentle stroll along Starling Inlet (very flat) then around Au Pui Leng, So Le Pun,Shan O, Lai Chi Wo, up to Tiu Tang Lung (416m) and then to Wu Kau Tang in theNorthern New Territories?  It should be a relatively easy walk, with good views of mangroves, water and our cousins across the border.

If you are interested hobbling along and are not in fear of the threat of compass failure/navigational error, meet up at Fanling MTR station at 11 am just oputside the turnstiles near 7-11 and we'll take taxis to Luk Keng where the walk will start.

Remember to bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water and lunch and snacks.

If it is raining or threatening to rain, the walk will be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten-minute waiting rule applies, so remembernot to be late!

1. Walk report of 6.4.08 to Hoi Ha
There were 16 trampers taken a bus from Diamond Hill to Sai Kung under the lead of Joyce. Then they took into 4 taxis to go to original starting point, Shui Long Wo. On the other hand, Roz and Rebecca waited for the group at the bus stop of Shui Long Wo at 11:45a.m. After half hour, two of them were picked up by Joyce and arrived by taxi to the new starting point of Yung Shue O where was suggested by Andy to avoid long walk on concrete. Unfortunately, we still missed one late tramper, Francis who was on the way to original starting point. Then Joyce and Tim left behind to wait for Francis, and other trampers were led by Andy to Sham Chung.
After 45 minutes walk, we arrived to a store at Sham Chung and waited for other 3 trampers. 10 minutes later, Joyce and Tim arrived. And Francis was the last one to arrive as usual. It's really a nice walk to start on that Sunny day. We had a long rest at Sham Chung store with the amusement of dogs which are belonged to a big group of fans who raise the same type of dogs. Then we headed to She Shek Au, Lai Chi Wo and Pak Sha O. That day was wet and the temperature was high up to 28C. It's tough for some of us to go ups and downs. Finally, we ended up to Hoi Ha at 5:45p.m. As it was too late to go for a swim, therefore, 16 of us took taxi back to Sai Kung. Thanks for Vivian to call us the taxi where has poor reception of mobile. And there were 3 persons, Joyce, Francis and Catherine left behind at Hoi Ha to enjoy the good scenery and sunset. Finally they met up with Rebecca for nice Thai food and beer. Thanks Joyce bringing us a great day.
