| Walk on March 9, 2008: The "I I Hike" |
We will meet outside the turnstiles at Fan Ling KCR at 10.00 AM near the 7 Eleven store and then take taxis to the starting point. We will do a steep path up Robin's nest and from there foray into forbidden territory for a short while. We will be II's from Hong Kong! After that a short concrete path going downhill will lead us to a very nice village. From here on the first 100 odd metres is one hell of a bushwhack and leads to a gorgeous path on a ridge to the summit of Ngam Tau Shan(Exit point for some). This in essence is already a Three boot hike but here we really come into our element. After this we will do a short tiny mountain range called Pat Sin Leng. Those who are not familiar with this range well it is a series of eight hills all above 800 metres. Well look at this way, this is the last Sunday of the real winter season! Do wear long pants and definitely carry some energy bars. We will end the hike at our favorite Thai restaurant in Tai Mei Tuk. This is a very tough fast paced hike. A torch with spare batteries is an absolute must. Also pl carry your Hong Kong ID. If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late! Bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, good shoes, a torch and a hat. Also, bring some lunch for along the way. Disclaimer:- People join this walk at their own risks.
