| Walk on Jan 20, 2008: Sharp Peak etc etc etc |
FRONTPAGE_NO_TRANSLATION_AVAILABLE
The cold weather warning is up so that means we need to do another long walk. Now if it was warm, we would have considered an easier walk but as it is cold we have been left with no choice. We will walk up Sharp Peak and then walk another 20 odd kilometers from there! We'll meet at 10.30 am on Sunday, Jan 20, 2008 at the Diamond Hill MTR station outside the turnstiles near the Hollywood plaza exit. From there we shall take our Tramper bus to Section 2 of the Maclehose trail in Sai Kung. From Section 2 we will do a very short and sharp detour up Sharp Peak and then coast along the peninsula to end the walk in Sai Wan. After Sharp Peak there are no hills as such and it is a very beautiful part of Hong Kong. The entire walk is about 22 kilometres so expect about five to six hours of tramping. The descent from Sharp peak is not easy. Pl come prepared for cold weather also as the hike hugs the coast all the time. If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late! Bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water at least two litres, good shoes, a torch and a hat. Also, bring some lunch for along the way. Disclaimer:- People join this walk at their own risks. I shall not be held responsible in any way for any injury or death incurred or any loss or damage to personal property caused due to whatever causes including, but not limited to, negligence, neglect, errors of judgment and inadequate orientation skills on my part. The fact that you show up at the time and place on the day to join the walk is an implication that you have agreed to and accepted unconditionally this disclaimer.
