All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Walk on 16 December 2007 - the Wu Kau Tang and Hung Shek Mun loop

The following is cut and paste from a walk of 3 December 2006. Thanks to the leader of the day, I went to Hung Shek Mun (Red Rock Gate) for the first time. I was so mesmerized by it that I decided I would go back. So there we go this Sunday.

  1. This weekend we’ll walk in the Plover Cove Country Park. We’ll meet at 10.30 a.m. on Sunday, at the Customer Service/Ticket Office just outside the turstile of the Tai Po Market KCR Train Station (East Rail).
  2. 2. We'll take either a taxi or minibus to Wu Kau Tang Village and start our hike there. In the first part of the walk, we'll walk along a ridge on the northern side of Plover Cove Reservoir. After climbing up to Ma Yau Fung, we'll walk to Hung Shek Mun Au via Chek Ma Tau, Wang Leng Au and Kwun Tam Tung. From Hung Shek Mun Au we'll descend to Hung Shek Mun Tsuen, and the Tsuen walk to the beautiful seashore of Hung Shek Mun.
  3. From Hung Shek Mun we'll walk back on lowlands to Wu Kau Tang via Ma Niu Shui, Ha Miu Tin, Sheung Miu Tin and Kau Tam Tso.
  4. Bring all the usual things, a lunch, a torch, sun block, mos spray and if weather looks doggy, rain gear.
  5. Among the paraphernalia that you should bring, I would highlight a torch, as we may finish the walk late. Needless to say you must bring enough water.
  6. If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk might be cancelled. If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.
P.S. Last time the walk finished at 6.15 p.m. If I can find the way and the walk goes smoothly, we should finish at about the same time. This means: it is a long walk.
