All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

We continue on the next leg of the "Summit Series" and we will do six hills in the New Territories on this coming Sunday. Now you might be tempted to think that last week was nine hills so this week should be easier .... Hmmm well if you feel that way then you just need to come for the hike and check for yourself!!

We'll  meet at 11.00 am on Sunday, Nov 4, 2007 at the Customer Services Counter/Ticket Office inside Heng On Station. For Heng On station we need to switch trains at the Tai Wai KCRC station to the Ma On Shan line and expect a travel time of about 30 - 40 minutes from Kowloon Tong.  We will get a taxi from here to the Ma On Shan Country Park BBQ site to start the walk.  The first section is very steep and loads of fun. We will first climb up Ma On Shan and then continue on the ridge to the next two hills i.e. The Hunchbacks. From there we will descend down a few hundred metres and make our way up Pyramid Hill. After that we continue on the MacLehose Trail to do Buffalo Hills 1 & 2. We will then retrace our steps a bit and go to Sai Kung for a nice meal.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late!

Bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, good shoes, a torch and a hat. Also, bring some lunch for along the way.

1. Really late walk report
This Sunday all the pretty girls in Hong Kong came for our hike. After the final count, we found that thirty trampers had decided that six summits are very easy so they turned up at the appointed time with no clue what was in store. The elders had a short conference and it was decided to follow Lutz’s suggestion to try a new route from Wu Kai Sha KCR. So we got into the KCR again and headed off to the final stop. Right at the KCR we lost our first Tramper who was lost even before the walk even began – Tarun was besotted by the wide range of food available in 7-11 and stayed there for a while browsing.
The trail up the first of the Hunchbacks was a brilliant uphill section. It was really steep but completely shaded and we made very good time considering that we were such a big group. Once on top of the second one, we took our mandatory group photo. Then we continued on the beautiful ridge and reached Ma On Shan just after 1 pm for lunch.
We made our way down on to the Maclehose trail and ascended our fourth summit Pyramid Hill. The views were quite nice and Sai Kung does look quite picturesque. We then made our way to Buffalo Pass and after a lot of coaxing and promises of great food most of the group made it to the top of Buffalo Hill. From the second hill we took a new trail down and we ended up in Shatin where Rebecca led us to an awesome dai pai dong for some superb Chinese / Thai grub.
