All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

The weather does seem to be getting better so it is time to do a nice long hike out in the New Territories. The forecast is for sunny skies and milder temperature so the plan for this weekend to do the Pat Sing Leng range and hopefully we can get some nice views.

We will meet outside the turnstiles at Tai Po Market KCR at 10.30 AM near the Uptown Plaza Exit and take the minibus from there to the starting point.  We will try and find a path called the Monkey trail up to the first summit of the Pat Sing Leng range and then follow the Wilson Trail over the ridge. These are a series of eight peaks with lots of ups and downs. The views from these hills are possibly some of the best in Hong Kong - weather permitting of course. We will be doing several hills over 600 metres.  After the eight summits of Pat Sing leng we will warm down by doing an additional one which is as yet undecided.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk will be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late!

Bring all the usual gear, in particular lots of water, good shoes, a torch and a hat. Also, bring some lunch for along the way.

1. Walk report
Sorry for the late report, just did not get a chance during the week to pen it down. Fifteen trampers turned up at Tai Po KCR and Francis caught up with us at Tai Mei Tuk. There were a few new faces but some of the regulars were missing. We started off with a gentle amble on the Pat Sin Leng trail and and then we took a very nice path called the Monley Trail. This trail led us steeply to a nice rocky section. There were a few footholds and we somehow hauled ourselves up and sat down on the ledge for a while to enjoy the view. From there it was a very short but steep hike up to the summit of the first hill.
It was unfortunately very smoggy and quite warm for late October. We made our way over the hills and got glimpses of the valley down below. We broke for a late lunch and the mandatory group photo. The trail on the ridge next to the actual Wilson trail is probably one of the best sections in Hong Kong to hike on and a few of us walked right till the end to Wong Leng. After that we descended down to the Hok Tau Reservoir. From there it is a short hike to Sha Lo tung village and we just wandered around for a while. It was quite late in the day by then and we made our way to the main Tai Po Road. Seven of us got into cabs and went to tai Mei Tuk for an excellent Thai meal where the waitress immediately recognized us. After the usually feasting and drinking, we got treated to free desserts.
