All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

By the time you finish reading this proposal for the next walk, your knees will hurt and your feet will swell!! We will walk at least 25 kilometres and will do some of the highest hills in Hong Kong. To make up for the really easy one booter last Sunday, we will do a mid week special - A Four Booter.

I know some of you are really going to curse me but we will meet at an uncivilized hour i.e. 8.45 am at the Central Ferry Pier for Mui Wo on Thursday 5 April, 2007. The ferry leaves at 9 AM sharp so don't be late. We start walking from the pier itself. We will do a nice route up Sunset Peak which is just a short little hill of 850 metres. Then after that to heat things up a bit, we will do Lantau Peak. which is about 934 metres. At this point you might think that sanity will prevail but no one ever accused us of such things!!! We will get down quickly to Nong Ping and follow a circuitous route to end the hike at Tai O with two more hills of about 500 metres on the way.

The pace of this walk will be consistently fast and there is no opportunity to wait beyond a reasonably short period of time. There will be two or three very short breaks for snacks & lunch and expect to finish in the dark. A torch and good shoes are an absolute must on this hike. Expected pace as below:

Sunset Peak about 2.30 Hours

Lantau Peak about 3.00 Hours

Tai O trail about another 3.00 hours

This is going to be a really long day with more than 8 hours of tramping so please bring plenty of water, hat, change of t-shirt, snacks, lunch and wear good shoes.

If it is raining or threatening to rain (thunderstorm warning), the walk may be cancelled. If in doubt on the morning of the walk, call 8209-0517. The ten minute waiting rule applies and remember not to be late!
