All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

*excludes travelling time

1.      This weekend we’ll pay homage to Sharp Peak, the legendary Python Mountain on the eastern end of  Sai Kung Peninsular.

2.      We'll meet at 10.30am on Sunday, 12th November, 2006 at the Hang Seng mini-bank inside Choi Hung MTR Station.

3.        From Choi Hung we'll take a minibus to Sai Kung, and from there we'll take a bus to Wong Shek Pier.   At the Pier we'll jump on board a speedboat which will take us to Ko Lau Wan where we'll start walking.

4.          From Ko Lau Wan we'll walk in a southerly direction to Nam She Wan.  We'll tackle Sharp Peak (468m) from Nam She Wan.  There is no trail on the map that leads from Nam She Wan up to Sharp Peak, and so very few hikers have ever conquered Sharp Peak from the Wan (Trampers have never tackled Sharp Peak this way, and so we'll make Trampers history this time).  We'll be amongst the very few who have ever attempted this, and so be prepared for some adventurism.  For some parts of the walk, we may have to create a makeshift trail.

5.          From the top of Sharp Peak it is spectacular view over Sai Kung and its beautiful coastline; so bring your camera.

6.          I have not decided where we'll head to after Sharp Peak as this will depend on  how long (and difficult) it will take us to blunt it.  In any case we'll end up at a dinner table in Sai Kung Town.

7.          If you want to join us at Sai Kung Town (at 11.10am at No.  94 Bus Terminus) or at Wong Shek Pier (at 11.45am), you must call the Trampers Hotline (below) on Saturday night or Sunday morning to let me know that you are planning to do so.

8.          Bring all the usual things, a lunch, a torch, sun block, mos spray and if weather looks doggy, rain gear.  There are a couple of beautiful pools along the stream at the end of the walk and so bring along a towel and some dry clothes to change if you are prepared to have a dip in the water.

9.          Among the paraphernalia that you should bring, I would highlight a torch, as we may finish the walk late.  Needless to say you must bring enough water.

10.          If it is raining hard or thunderstorms are threatening, the walk might be cancelled. If in doubt, call the trampers hotline 8209-0517 in the morning.

Note:- Please note that this walk and any other walks organised by me may finish late due to a host of different reasons.  The duration given on top of this walk proposal is only a rough estimate.  We may have to walk longer than the estimated time and so there is a possibility that we'll walk in the dark (i.e. after sunset).  It is prudent that you bring a small torch with you to this walk.
