All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

We will meet at 10:45 am on Sunday morning at the Diamond Hill MTR station, just outside the ticket turnstiles by the Hang Seng Bank. We will then leave the station at 11:00 o'clock sharp (so don't be late!!) to catch a bus to Sai Kung, where we will take taxis towards Sai Wan beach (The last bit we will have to walk).

From Sai Wan village we will walk along the trail over to Ham Tin Wan and then over to Tai Wan beach before we start the serious and quite long climb up to Sharp Peak.

We did this walk several times in the other direction during last years and it is a long and tiring walk with a lot of loose gravel and in parts quite steep. Expect to be driven by the elders to hurry up, in case we have difficulty to reach the destination in time to catch the bus from either Wong Shek Pier or alternatively from Pak Tam Au. (The last bus leaves Wong shek Pier at 19:30).

A quote by B.B on a earlier walk to Sharp Peak

"There are no places to buy food or drinks along the way, so bring a lunch and plenty of water (at least 2 litres). Remember to bring all the other walker's gear as well: good walking shoes, hat, sunscreen and a jacket or pullover in case it is cool or windy climbing the peak. This is also cow territory, and we've had a few close escapes in the past from the wiley gangs of robber cows that roam the peninsula and wait in ambush to prey on unsuspecting walkers, so consider bringing along an unwanted relative or former friend who can conveniently be sacrificed to buy your own safety if the need arises."

Remember also to bring all the usual stuff, good hiking shoes are essential, enough to drink and some lunch. A warm jacket will be useful if the weather stays cold as forecast during the day, and especially when exposed to the wind on the hills. Given the fact that it's getting dark quite early - please remember to bring a torch that works including batteries - just in case!

The number to call if you have any problems on the day is 8209 0517.
