All our walks are led by volunteers and are planned one week in advance.  If you don't see an itinerary on our homepage, that means no one has proposed anything yet.  And if one is not posted by Saturday, you can safely assume that there is no walk the following day.

We communicate via our website and we do not maintain a mailing list.

Because of the length of this walk, we have decided to meet earlier than usual to give ourselves some more time. We will meet on Sunday morning at a cruel 10:00 am at the Diamond Hill MTR station, just outside the ticket turnstiles by the Hang Seng Bank. We will then leave the station at 10:10 o'clock sharp (so don't be late!!) to catch a bus to Wong Shek Pier, where we will try to catch the 11:30 Ferry to Ko Lau Wan Tsui. (Of course You can make you our way to Wong Shek pier before 11:30 am to meet us there).

We will walk along the northern peninsula first, before we climb up the steep slope to Sharp Peak. After getting to the top, we plan to walk down to (and around) the peninsula that stretches out to the southeast of Sharp Peak. This proved to be a really lovely walk, when did it some years ago, but it makes the walk very long and tiring. After walking around the peninsula, we'll cut back over the hills and beaches to Ham Tin for hopefully still in time (“a quick rocket fuel stop, i.e. a beer” by Brian) in the village before having to do the final climb back up to the pass and out to where we can reach buses home.

Again, please remember that this will be a long and difficult walk; we will have to move fairly quickly with only a few short breaks to finish it before dark. If you are not used to this type of walking, you should wait to come along on an easier walk in the future.

Bring all the usual stuff: good walking boots or shoes, enough water (a minimum of 2-3 liters, more if it is hot), a lunch, a hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, a torch in case we get into the dark, and an umbrella in case it rains or against the sun. A jacket might be handy if the weather turns cold or a sharp wind is blowing.

The walk might be cancelled if it is raining hard or the thunderstorm warning has been issued. If you have any problems finding us on Sunday morning, call the hotline at: 8209 0517.
