1.     In light of the summer heat and humidity, I am proposing a Night Walk on 10^th September 2006 (Sunday).  The idea of a night walk comes from a bittersweet experience --- see the walk report for the walk on 28^th May 2006.  It will be a real night walk, and my initial idea is that we'll meet at 12.15am (no kidding, I mean 0015 hours in the morning) on Sunday10^th September 2006 at Quarry Bay MTR station and start walking on the eastern part of Hong Kong Island.  The walk will finish at around 7.00am in the Sunday morning.

Besides Neil and I, there are some 37 million others who call California “home”.  This makes it the USA’s largest State by population.  However, because of its physical size (770 miles long and 250 miles wide at its most distant points) and the concentration of population in small areas, there are wilderness areas where people rarely tread.  So, although there are plenty of people in the cities, we and our tent were completely alone at Budd Lake in Yosemite and Dade Lake in the Sierra Nevada’s.  Cool…

一直關注城市環境的「思網絡」（SEE Network），呼籲政府及天星小輪公司，暫緩清拆陪伴維多利亞港近五十年的中環天星碼頭及其鐘樓，並盡快對鐘樓作出更深入而有系統的紀錄、研究，並對其文化價值作出公開討論。

1. Trampers will be celebrating the birthday of the Hong Kong Special Administration Region in the evening on 1st July (a public holiday) in a secret corner in Eastern District on Hong Kong Island (easily accessible by public transport).
2. The birthday party will be a mini buffet. Salad, veggie, meat and curry will be served.
3. Those who are interested in joining the party should email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or phone me on 6021-7013 before 5.00 pm on Friday, 30th June, 2006 to register your interest so that I can arrange enough food and drinks.  We’ll share the cost of the food, which should be around $100 per head (excluding alcohol).
4. Beer, wine, and gin will be served over the bar top. Those male trampers who will consume alcohol will be charged $90 on top the food, and female trampers will be charged $60 (Sorry for the difference; I am a sexist). However much you will drink in the night (whether half glass of wine or ten bottles of beer), you will be charged the respective standard price. The bar will not close until the first light in the morning and so you can drink till daybreak, and you will only be charged the same price.
5. "Whether you are a white cat or a black cat, as long as you get drunk that night and can still join the walk the following day, you are a good cat"--- Adopted from a saying of the late Deng Xiaoping, with modification.     So, irrespective of your political convictions, you are all welcome.  Followers of Karl Marx/Mao Zedong (white cats) and Adam Smith (black cats) can all come and raise glass to Deng, without him we might not be able to use this SAR birthday as another excuse to get drunk!!
